This show was based on the original British Series "Man About the House" and in this pilot the writers decided that they would do just that-- base the premise of the show on the UK series. When they realised that it was so horrible, they ended up going back to the British series and copying it. The real first three's company is pretty much the exact same as the British counterpart word for word.

The 2nd unaired Pilot was directed by Bill Hobin which was filmed prior to the casting of Suzanne Somers. In this edition, the blonde Chrissy is portrayed by Susan Lanier. While the character format is basically the same, the chemistry is lacking with this blonde, so she had to be replaced. Denise Galik-Furey was originally cast as Chrissy but suddenly became unavailable shortly before taping.
